Communications Bill

In a speech to the Royal Television Society in September 2011, Jeremy Hunt set out plans to “protect consumers from offensive and unlawful content”. He said this will include new proposals for internet filtering to protect children and for making search engines, ISPs and other 'intermediaries' more responsible for tackling copyright infringement. After a lenghty delay the Green Paper was abandoned. The actual proposals will now be set out in a new 'Communications White Paper', which will help create a framework for the regulation of information on the Internet. (Not to be confused with the CCDP/Communications Data Bill.)
