ORG Issue: Automatic Vehicle Tracking

Thousands of CCTV cameras are being converted to make use of automatic numberplate recognition technology. The resulting national vehicle tracking database is central to a major police operation to “deny criminals use of the road”. But the movements of millions of law-abiding people will be monitored and recorded, stored on the database for years, with no meaningful oversight.
