Bruce Schneier - video and book giveaway

Michael Holloway, 11 December 2009

Bruce Schneier did a benefit gig for Open Rights Group last Friday and here's the video of his 'Future of Privacy' talk and the 45-minute Q&A.

We've also got four copies of his excellent Schneier on Security book to give away. The first four folks who join ORG and send their confirmation email on to Turn on JavaScript! with 'Brucey bonus' in the subject line will be the lucky winners.

We've also got Ogg versions online if you'd prefer over on Blip.tv. Thanks to Mikko for doing such a fine job on the videos.

Just a couple of points of order really.

1) It might be useful to offer this as a random draw for all members of ORG. We get precious little in the way of personal goodies as part of our membership (other than your fantastic work in protecting our rights LOL) that something like this could only be construed as a slap in the face for founder and later members.

2) Why can't we download the video? Surely it's not a copyright issue?

Hi Paul

1. That's fair enough and certailny no disrespect intended to our existing supporters. We should and will do more to provide goodies to you lovely people.

2. You can download from the sidebar on the blip.tv page, sorry that's a bit clunky.

Thanks - always good to get feedback :)

And worth sticking around for.
It seems our governments are only able to turn the surveillance technology on us - innocent users - rather than the scammers, spammers, phishers, etc.
If the government here in the UK said they were going to put microphones in every pub in the UK and they'd be recording every conversation there would be a revolution... but that's exactly what they're doing... it's all very worrying... and well done to ORG for helping to stem the tide of the 'all knowing government'.

Is there any transcript of the talk? I would like to quote some parts of the Bruce's argumentation and an existing transcript would help me. If not, I will do without :-) Thanks
