Role

Open Rights Group (ORG) is looking to recruit a highly organised and ambitious Fundraising and Projects Manager to play a leading role in managing and expanding ORG’s portfolio of Trusts and Foundations Funders. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for devising and delivering the organisation’s Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Strategy. They will manage relationships with existing funders, develop fundraising opportunities for existing strands of work and will initiate and drive the work of the organisation into exciting new areas. 

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable skills, experience, and success in Trust and Foundations Fundraising in addition to strong project management skills, excellent communication skills, and good team-working skills.

Key responsibilities 

  • Responsibility for end to end management of grants projects from research, bid writing, through to implementation, evaluation, monitoring, review, and reporting. 
  • Lead on drafting fundraising proposals to trusts and foundations, involving other members of staff in relevant grant proposal development. 
  • Lead on researching and identifying new fundraising opportunities.
  • Key contact person for donors, updating them about the work of the organisation. 
  • Lead on developing new fundraising strategies and developing relationships with grant bodies alongside Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Expand opportunities for collaboration in our sector support strand, alongside Executive Director and members of the Policy Team. 
  • Ensuring that successful grants are delivered timely and efficiently and that reporting schedules are met.
  • Ensure that projects and funding proposals meet the resource planning requirements of the organisation. 
  • Development of the organisation’s project management tools and processes.
  • Implementation of efficient monitoring and evaluation systems. 
  • Training other staff members in the adoption of project management and  monitoring and evaluation processes. 
  • To develop and maintain excellent relationships with a portfolio of funders such as Institutional Donors, Trusts and Foundations, providing first-rate stewardship through written reports, virtual meetings (and in time face-to-face) and to ensure regular effective communications and high quality reporting. 

Key Contacts

The Fundraising and Projects Manager will be directly managed by the Executive Director. They will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other colleagues across the broader team to ensure excellent delivery of projects and strong relationship between the organisation and existing and future funders. 

Length and Salary

The Fundraising and Projects Manager will be employed on a permanent basis following successful completion of the six months probation period. The annual salary is £36k – £42.5k (incl. London weightings of approx £3.5kless any required deductions for income tax and national insurance. The position will be home-based. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. Person Specification

CRITERIA 

ESSENTIAL:

  • At least 3 years experience in a trust and foundation fundraising role. 
  • Experience of managing full cycle of grants projects from research, bid writing, through to implementation, evaluation, monitoring, review, and reporting. 
  • Proven track record in successfully securing grants from trust and foundations. 
  • Strong Understanding of the trusts and foundations fundraising environment, as well as relevant fundraising strategy, tools, and techniques.
  • Demonstrable project management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including time management and IT literate. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A high degree of self-motivation.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to deadlines and within a small, integrated team.
  • Creativity and energy in approaching a workload consisting of large long-term projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing. 
  • High levels of numeracy and previous budget preparation experience.

DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of data and digital rights or relevant experience in digital policy. 
  • Knowledge of the Human Rights funding environment.
