UPDATE! Details on how to register to become an accredited ORG election observer are now online. As you can see from the map opposite, we have 3 successful e-voting observation teams. But we need more volunteers, especially in Sheffield and South Bucks.
We need you to monitor e-voting pilots in your local area.
Elections for the Scottish and Welsh assemblies, and most local authorities in England, are set to take place on Thursday, 3 May.
The Department for Constitutional Affairs has announced pilots in the following local authorities:
E-voting - Rushmoor, Sheffield, Shrewsbury & Atcham, South Bucks and Swindon E-counting - Bedford, Breckland, Dover, South Bucks, Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Warwick District Council
Are you willing and able to help us monitor the use of e-voting and e-counting technologies in one of these local authorities? We have created a pledge on PledgeBank to encourage groups of two or more election monitors to register for each local authority affected. Just visit http://www.pledgebank.com/electionwatch07 to sign up.
This is a vital role, as we need bodies on the ground to inform us about irregularities, machine (and human!) error and even fraudulent activities relating to the trialling of electronic voting mechanisms.
