Talk:Katie Allen's 19/10/07 'tv-links' piece for Guardian Unlimited

From Orgwiki

I think that you should worry a lot less about the reporting of the story but more about your basis of argument as you seem to be implying that is perfectly fine to facillitate the easy viewing of pirate movies when it quite clearly is not. Yes the website provided links but it also had a player that enabled you to stay on the site to watch all material and collected all the shows in a manner that enabled the easy viewing of pirate material. This is illegal.

I do not believe that complainig to the guardian will get you anywhere as the reporting of the story is very accurate and truthful, as it is only reporting on the arrest of the man and the legal reasoning behind this. It is not attacking the website nor defending it. It is a very competent and accurate piece of journalism.

Please check the Wayback machine for this last known copy of the Tv-Links website [1]. You will note no media player present. As far as I know, no media player was ever present at TV Links.
I do not intend to imply that it is perfectly fine to facilitate the easy viewing of pirate movies. It is not. But what is less fine is:
1) The police arresting a man when there is no basis in law for them to do so.
2) A journalist which does not think to question a press release detailing this arrest, but instead reproduces it as news. --Becky hogge 15:41, 1 April 2008 (BST)
