[edit] Summary of Pilot
Rushmoor council will pilot remote Internet voting, during the week before polling day and on polling day itself. Traditional polling stations will continue to be available on polling day.
Providing remote Internet voting will build on the evidence available from pilot schemes undertaken in 2003, including a scheme in Rushmoor. The 2007 Rushmoor pilot scheme will enable us to undertake a detailed assessment of a number of key factors, including patterns of usage and take-up, accessibility, security and confidence in electronic voting.
Rushmoor have a relatively high proportion of registration by service personnel at the local army barracks, and this pilot scheme will also present an important opportunity to assess the benefits of remote voting for service personnel posted overseas. (from a DCA document)
