ORG website brief

From Orgwiki

If you'd like to have a stab at designing CSS (specifically, a Wordpress theme) for the ORG website, then this is roughly what we're thinking of:

Contents

[edit] Layout

The blog should be a two-column blog, with the left hand column for entries and the right hand column for the sidebar. The top banner should span both columns, and have the title 'Open Rights Group' and the tagline 'Protecting your rights in the digital age'. It shouldn't be too deep - the Kubrick banner depth is just way too much.

[edit] Sidebar - basic contents

Sidebar should contain something like:

  • Aims
  • Search
  • Pages (there aren't any yet, but there will be pages, which aren't blog posts)
  • Categories
  • Links (links to things like the pledge, wikipedia entry etc)
  • Press (email us for more details)
  • Blogroll
  • Archives by month
  • Recent posts
  • RSS feed and other meta info

[edit] Text

Text should be something around the 10pt region, perhaps Verdana, definitely not Ariel or a serif font, and not too widely spaced. I hate the habit of some blog templates to make everything double spaced - drives me nuts.

There should be a nice treatment of blockquotes. The page should scale up to a maximum width, to avoid overly wide text column on a large monitor.

[edit] Colour

Not blue or pink if you can help it.

[edit] Other

The site must be:

  • accessible
  • usable
  • validated
