Invite your elected officials

We need you to help us get as many elected officials as possible to our e-voting party conference events.

Writetothem is a great way to invite your elected officials to our series of Autumn 2007 fringe events. For these events, ORG is targetting not just MPs, but councillors, local and regional assembly members and MEPs. All elected officials need to be concerned about electronic voting and counting.

Before you write, you should take note of writetothem’s guidelines on writing effective letters, and also read our letter-writing page too.

It’s very important you invite your councillor, assembly member, MP or MEP to the correct fringe event (i.e. Labour people to the Bournemouth event; Conservatives to the Blackpool event; Lib Dems to the Brighton event). Their party affiliation will be indicated on writetothem. Details of the events are available here.

As elected officials, they should be concerned that the mechanisms which give them their democratic legitimacy (elections) are under threat. If you need inspiration for you invitations, read ORG’s e-voting briefing pack, or our May 2007 Election Report.

Thanks, and happy writing!
