Open Geodata

Geodata is geographic or spatial information - anything from postcodes to maps to aerial views. Accurate geodata is often very expensive to produce, but its value to the public is high. Because of this, debates about geodata, like the current debate about whether the Ordnance Survey should sell its data at a profit, tend to centre around public access. Open geodata is free of copyright restrictions and is accessible to anyone at minimal or no cost.
