By making a regular donation to Open Rights Group (ORG), you join the UK's growing community of digital rights activists. Since 2005 our collective efforts have brought positive, meaningful change to a range of technology-related public policy debates. Our big campaigns have involved e-voting and intellectual property reform; our other works involved data retention, freedom of information and privacy in online communications. So the main benefit of joining ORG is giving your support to digital rights both in the UK and around the world. To encourage digital rights hacktivity in your home town, we’ll come and speak to your crowd if you can provide a venue and an audience of twenty or so. The venue could be your university or local pub - all we need is a (fairly) quiet space to get together. One of our staff or advisers will join your meeting, then we’ll keep in touch in future and help you support open rights. We put on various parties, seminars and other events right through the year. They're mostly in London but we're trying to do more further afield. We advertise the events in our supporter update, on Upcoming, on the blog and also the email lists
Our first annual raffle offered a host of snazzy prizes. We'll do it all again this year at our xmas party, only with bigger and better prizes, and we'll give every supporter one free ticket.
We're working on deals with various magazines and publishers to give the discerning ORG supporter discount rates on subscription packages. Three are already in the bag - with Mute Magazine, GC Expo and Web User - but watch this space for more.
