Double your money with the Open Rights Group

If you’ve ever:
- signed the Open Rights Group pledge;
- said you’d support the Open Rights Group and haven’t; or
- supported ORG in the past and then stopped
…then it’s likely you’ll have received an email from me today, telling you about our Review of Activities and asking you to dig deep into your pockets to support ORG.
The good news is that if you support ORG now, the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust Ltd will match the amount you give to us. Which means everything that you give will be worth double to ORG. So get giving!
This arrangement is set to be in place for the next two years, or until the Open Rights Group has received £10,000 in new funds, whichever happens first. Thanks heartily to JRRT Ltd, and thanks especially to all the people who have already reacted to our emails, and are sending in funds.

I signed up back when ORG was still in its infancy and I distinctly remember something about the first 1000 people to sign up getting something special. Did this slip by the wayside?

@ChrisR - No, founding 1,000 has definitely not slipped by the wayside, and you’re not the first person to prompt us about this - a lot of people are very proud to have been supporting ORG from the beginning.
We’re still working out what special accolade / treat the founding 1,000 should be able to demand from ORG - all suggestions welcome!

Maybe the founding 1,000 should be given the treat of a government opt-out from the ID card scheme to shut us up?

Yep - #4 has the best idea so far. And I think I was actually in the first 300: ID cards? This… is… England! (even though I’m Welsh ;).
Failing that, we could all get a t-shirt with “Original ORG Supporter” on it or something. And maybe a reproduction of that little five-circle pattern-thingy you find on bank notes so that we bugger up government surveillance photos of us?
I’d love to know where I actually came in the list, but I’m found on the pledge page under: “107 people who did not want to give their names, 1 of whom has done the pledge.” Darn the humility that I’ve since grown out of! Keep up the good work people!

Hi Richard, good question, and AFAIK the fund-matching offer is not restricted to new supporters, which suggests an increase in your regular donation will be matched. I’ll confirm this asap.
