Sign up to support the Open Rights Group
Whether you pledged to support this project or whether you didn’t. We’ve now shaken our internal systems into a state where they might not be pretty, but they should work, and you can now follow through on your promise and support the project financially via paypal, standing order or cheque.

You can read more about levels of support, and the Founding 1000, on the Support ORG page. There is also a FAQ which answers many of the questions that have arisen in the comments.
Thank you all very much for helping us get this far. We now have much much more to do.

Can you just post the bank account details so that I can set up a standing order?

I agree with the above, I would be much more comfortable if I was in control of creating the standing order. I have gone through the membership process, and have the generated standing order PDF. Can I just set one up using the reference in that PDF?

If you fill in the form at the URL below then you’ll be able to download a personalised standing order form which has our bank details on it from the page following.
We’d very much appreciate it if you used that form to set up your standing order, which requests your bank to send your payments with a unique reference attached, so that we know who’s sending us money.

If you have any problems please drop us an email at supporters@openrightsgroup.org

I already filled in a standing order form at last year’s meeting, and - according to my online banking - it still hasn’t been actioned.
Are those forms going to be used, or should I fill in the website?
Best regards,
Peter.

James, if you *really* want me to use the form, I will - but I’m just going to fill it full of junk and I have to wonder how useful that “information” is going to be to you
Maybe if you had some kind of privacy policy on the form that explained what you were going to do with the data you collect I might feel better disposed to giving you some genuine information.
That said, I’d still rather just set up the standing order myself.
Cheers,
sjb

Same question as Peter’s: I filled out a form at the inaugural meeting last year, but according to my bank no direct debit has yet started for ORG. Can you let us know what’s happening with those forms? Thanks.

Give me a break, why so much info? The irony of you requiring so much personal info to help fight the compiling of personal info is complete, are you working for the other side?

Arrived hre following a link from a post by Cory Doctorow on Boing Boing where it syas ORG is a charity - if that is accurate you will be able to claim tax back under Gift Aid - is that the case? If it is you should have a gift aid form online too.
Regards
John

“Founding 1000? That’s good, that’s a good idea,.. I like that one.”
January 16th, 2006 at 9:45 pm
no paypal?
January 16th, 2006 at 9:52 pm
Unfortunately ORG is not a charity. You can’t do political lobbying in the UK with that status
January 17th, 2006 at 12:52 am
There is paypal - I paid using it myself

If you don’t want to be a supporter - for which we need a means of identification such as your name and address - but you do wish to donate to ORG, please feel free to send a donation by PayPal of any amount you like. The email to use is paypal[at]openrightsgroup.org.
Privacy Policy will be online as soon as I can get it approved by the Board and up.

Standing order forms filled out at the event will be processed. We couldn’t do them before now because we needed to get the database sorted out.
January 17th, 2006 at 9:19 am
I don’t (and won’t) have a PayPal account, I really don’t want to provide a whole load of personal information, and I don’t want to pollute your database with garbage … so, can you not just post the account details so that I can create a standing order?
My enthusiasm for supporting the ORG is diminishing already >8-(

“Standing order forms filled out at the event will be processed”
Too late! I got tired of waiting, downloaded a standing order form and set up a standing order online using the supplied reference code. I trust this won’t affect my “Founding 1000″ status.
January 17th, 2006 at 4:52 pm
Paid and paid. Bit disappointed that I didn’t get the email til now. It looks like I’m user # 323. That’s too high. I wanted to be in the founding 100.
January 17th, 2006 at 10:30 pm
Cheer up, seanyboy, you’re still in the first 1000, and the way the user numbers are racking up in such a short time, surely bodes well for the future of ORG
January 18th, 2006 at 10:46 am
sjb - if you want to send us an anonymous cheque, you can do so. However, we don’t want to have random anonymous standing orders coming in because it makes reconcilliation and accounting more awkward.
January 18th, 2006 at 11:01 am
I’ve just created a FAQ to collate and answer all the questions that have arisen. Please do continue to ask if there is anything that’s not covered there.
January 18th, 2006 at 1:50 pm
Oh well, if receiving money is awkward for you I guess I’ll just hang onto it myself and save you the heartache of having to spend it.
Good luck.

I made my payment by cheque. I do still get the founding 1000 status, right?
January 29th, 2006 at 5:26 pm
Higgy, it doesn’t matter how you paid, just that you did pay.
